How to clean suede flats. If the oil or grease stain is fresh you can apply cornstarch to the stain and let sit overnight. Don t completely soak the suede. Try to avoid any type of cleaner if you can and stick with water. Place a paper towel directly over the stain and a second towel on top of that. If the suede is extremely stained from salt then use a toothbrush and water.
Rub the dampened cloth on the stain using a circular motion then let the area dry completely. Yes clean toothbrushes can be used to clean suede. Dab white vinegar on dirt stains with a cloth to clean them. Just press down with gentle movements. Sprinkle a little baking soda on the spot and allow it to dry overnight.
For heavier stains on suede wet a cloth with white vinegar or rubbing alcohol. Just sprinkle a little of this powder over the dry stain and allow it to act for approximately two hours. Apply cleanser with a rag covering the entire shoe evenly don t oversaturate. Start off by scrubbing the stain with a suede brush like you would for a scrape. Just use the dampened towel to swab at it.
Brush off as much dirt and debris including salt from sidewalks when the shoes are completely dry. Once this time is up carefully remove the baking soda with your suede brush. Apply pressure to the stain using your hands or by placing books on top of the towel.
